Anyone that knows me, knows that I am in love with storage solutions for the home. Although there is a constant evolution that happens and ideas change the one thing that stays stagnant is the solution of a clean, systematically sound, functional pantry. The biggest question is, how to start? Look in your pantry and decide how you would ideally like items arranged, what your budget is and how large your space is. In reality if you have a budget, most likely you will not get all your solutions at one time. That is okay. This can be an expensive process. Maybe you build your collection per month or per quarter. However, it is ultimately up to you. When I started going down this rabbit hole..ahahahah.. I realized that this would be a project done over time and I had to come to grips with that change that was happening within our space and how it seemed to shrink as we added a space for my daughters snacks! Trying to make use of our space and making it functional will forever be evolving.
Check out how I started:
First, I identified what brands I wanted to use. For me it was OXO and The Container Store(TCS). Then I looked at the price point and the best places to find OXO as I know this is a more expensive brand. TCS is only sold there. I started to find OXO at Home Good’s, Ross, Bed, Bath,& Beyond as well as Target. Additionally, I followed sales on these items to get more bang for my buck.
Second, based on my space I decided that I wanted to start on the top shelf, for us that meant cereals, oatmeal, sugar, flour, pasta, ect. I figured that these needed the biggest and bulk of the containers.
Third, I aim to LABEL everything. This is also great if you decide to use stainless steel as you will not be able to see what’s in that actual container. I just enjoy the look.
Lastly, make it an enjoyable experience that you will want to keep doing.
